Behind Elina Moreen
Elina Moreen is the name on the books. Behind it is Oliver Berends-Dierks.
Born in Lingen, Germany, in 1969, Oliver never set out to build a fictional world or begin a traditional writing career. Emma & Chris – The Story of Our Love started with something much more personal: the wish to preserve a story that had become part of his own life.
What began as writing for one person gradually became something larger. Memories became scenes, scenes became chapters, and eventually the first book became the beginning of a series.
The name Elina Moreen was chosen as a literary identity for that work. It creates a little distance between the person who lived parts of the story and the author who reshaped them into fiction, while allowing the books to have an identity of their own.
Writing What Remains
Oliver’s writing begins with memory rather than invention alone.
Personal recollections, old conversations, preserved messages, places, emotions, and moments from real life provide the starting point. From there, the material is shaped into fiction. People become characters, circumstances change, timelines can shift, and private reality becomes a story that can stand on its own.
The aim is not to document a life exactly as it happened.
It is to preserve what those moments felt like.
That is also why the books leave room for uncertainty, mistakes, contradiction, closeness, distance, and everything that does not fit neatly into the idea of a perfect love story.
Beyond Writing
The project did not remain limited to words.
Oliver also writes the lyrics and develops the musical ideas, emotional perspectives, and creative direction behind Quiet Spark. Songs and Audio Moments grew from the same material as the books and became another way of expressing thoughts and emotions that sometimes resist being put into a scene.
Technology, including AI-assisted production tools, helps turn those ideas into voices and sound. The creative starting point remains the same: the story, the words, the emotion, and the decision about what each piece should express.
Books, music, audio, and technology are therefore not separate projects.
They all began with the same two people.
Why Elina Moreen?
A pseudonym can hide someone.
This one was never meant to.
Elina Moreen became the name under which a deeply personal story could become literature without pretending that the author and the character were the same person.
Today, the real name behind the books is no secret. But Elina Moreen remains where the project began and where it belongs:
on the cover.
